from the Kingsland Post: Square Foot Gardening

Back by popular demand… Master Gardener, Violet Carson returns to the Kingsland Library on March 10th with another informative program on the increasingly popular “square foot gardening.”
Carson has been practicing the technique for about three years (the same amount of time she has been a Master Gardener) and says that square foot gardening is a similar concept to “raised gardening;” however, unique to this form of gardening is the “grid,” an example of which will be available during the March 10th program.
Although Carson says that gardening in a Texas climate can be challenging, “we live in a climate where you have to work at it,” she admits; Ms. Carson “highly recommends” gardening in our present economy.
During her presentation, Carson will discuss:

What to plant

Climate

Soil

Composting

After each discussion point, Carson will break for a brief question and answer session so that audience members will be sure to have their most immediate concerns and queries addressed promptly.
This special program is being hosted by the Green Thumb Program. Refreshments will be provided by members of the group.

This program is offered free of charge. All members of the public are welcome to attend.
