Members of the Kingsland Genealogical Society will celebrate the group's 20th Anniversary on Tuesday, October 13 at 2 p.m. at the Kingsland Library.
Fourteen people attended the organizational meeting back in 1989, and those who could be located have been invited to the 2009 event; which will, (of course) include a birthday cake.
Membership now includes persons from the entire Highland Lakes area, and is open to anyone interested in family history research.
A special guest speaker will be Peggy D. Rudd, director and librarian of the Texas State Library and Archives in Austin, and library patrons and visitors are welcome.
The Texas State Library and Archives is also celebrating a special anniversary in 2009 -- its 100th -- and has been involved in an extensive renovation.
For more information, call Kingsland Genealogy Society president Joanne Scarborough at (830) 598-6443.
